The 22nd Annual Meeting of the German Law & Economics Assocation (GLEA) will be held on July 3 - 4, 2025 at the University of Bonn (Germany).
 
Keynote speakers will be Christoph Engel (MPI Bonn) and Nizan G. Packin (Baruch College).

Submissions
 
Submissions of papers on any topic in law and economics are welcome. Following last year's success, we again extend a special invitation to legal scholars to present their law and economics research and discuss it with economists. We encourage submissions by young researchers at the PhD level to present and discuss their work with more experienced scholars.
  
Important notes for submissions:
  • You need to create an account (or log in using your existing account) with the conference management platform to submit.
  • The Special Law Track is only available for legal scholars whose work does not fit the typical law-and-economics format (including law-and-econ U.S. law review papers); this could apply to monograph chapters, papers in German (with English abstract), or extended abstracts without a paper (minimum 2 pages). 
  • Use the "Comment" field to indicate if you want to be considered for the
    • GLEA Young Scholar Prize
    • special edition of the European Journal of Law and Economics
  • Upload your paper in PDF format the "Supplementary data" section of the submission form.
  • Choose Session Proposal if you want to organize an invited panel on a law or policy topic. Invited panels should either have a length of 1 hour (2 speakers) or 1.5 hours (3 speakers).

The submission deadline is March 30, 2025.


Pre-Conference Workshop
 
On July 2, GLEA offers a Pre-Conference Workshop on AI for Legal Research.Attendees will gain basic proficiency in using large language models. The workshop is taught by our keynote speaker Christoph Engel. The target audience is (junior) scholars, including those with a law background. No prior knowledge is required, but you should be prepared to do some coding and have Python installed (instructions). The 30 slots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration requires payment of the participation fee of €20. Refunds are made only for cancellations before June 1.
 

GLEA Young Scholar Prize
 
We will award the GLEA Young Scholar Prize for an outstanding contribution from an emerging scholar in the field of law and economics. The prize is awarded for the best paper presented by a young scholar at the GLEA annual conference. Selection criteria as well as previous laureates can be found here.
